Finding the right blog format...

Once again, I've decided to change my blog provider.  I know that some blogs just take some practice, that there is a learning curve, but the last one I was working on just wasn't working out for me...thank you for your patience and understanding.  Hopefully, I will be able to stay here for a while.  Welcome!  Again : )

The blizzard...

A snowy day for a photoshoot

Woke up to Chicago covered in snow.  The snowflakes just kept coming, snow, snow, snow.
I had a busy day taking some pictures with the fantastic Erika DuFour, a fellow Frenchy (of the Canadian sort).  She has a wonderfully zen and beautiful studio - a big open space with hardwood floors.  Merci Erika for making me feel at ease, for making me laugh, and for taking all those pictures!

And then, I got some good news : )

Sunday morning walk on Bainbridge

The year the Christmas tree...

fell.

Who's afraid of Virgina Wolf?

Martha & George
Last night, Jamie and I went to the Steppenwolf to go see "Who's afraid of Virgina Wolf?" by Edward Albee.  A lovely evening spent with one of the most famously dysfunctional married couples ever written.  Nicely done.  I finally saw the love buried deep underneath the insults, masochist games and violence.

Jamie and me on the train ride home.

L.A Baby

Et me voici donc à LA - city of angels, city of soleil surtout!

Smithies

Sitting at the Oakland Airport, waiting for my flight to Los Angeles – the sun is slowly setting, the light is beautiful.   These last few days in San Francisco have been filled with friends and laughter – a perfect remedy, a blessing, exactly what any woman might need to give her soul and heart a boost.  I am stunned once again at the power and importance of friendship, especially female friendships.  I spent Saturday evening surrounded by Smithies – women I met close to 10 years ago when I went to college and most of whom I hadn’t seen since.  Yet, so many years later, the bond is still present and still strong.  There must be something about Smithies…I wish I could describe it.  As I looked around the table I was stunned by these women’s beauty – not just physical beauty, but a “soulful” beauty.  They are strong and sensitive, funny, witty, intelligent, passionate, dynamic – they will admit to being lost or confused, or in transition, and might not see the strength and life that they carry as they carry on, but every single one of us sitting at the same table sees it so clearly.    Support, enthusiasm, understanding.  Strong opinions, good questions, tenderness, and lots of love.  Present in each other’s lives even from a far, there for each other in some unspoken way.  Thank you

First Stop:  Mantera with Emilie and Tom!
Tiny little town on the Pacific ocean - with one great Peruvian restaurant where Emilie and I had a wonderful dinner.

Second Stop:  My mom's friend Tara in Pacific Heights [photo to come]

Great vegan sushi diner with Sophia on Valencia, Cha-Ya, I belive.

Fourth Stop:  Brunch with Annie at Chow on Market and Church, followed by some sight seeing...
